1. Looptroop Rockers sunt foarte cunoscuti in Romania, in special in randul ascultatorilor de hip-hop. Insa pentru cei care inca nu va cunosc, va rog sa va prezentati din nou.
Suntem 3 tipi originari din Västerås, Suedia, facem muzica si ne ocupam impreuna de propriul label, David vs Goliath. Supreme si Promoe fac rap, canta si scriu versuri, Embee compune muzica si mai canta din cand in cand. Cos M.I.C a parasit trupa in 2007, dar inca se ocupa de Looptroop pe partea de grafica si web.
Suntem in formula asta de la inceputul anilor ‘90 si avem la activ in total aproape 1000 de showuri impreuna. Inaintea primului nostru album din 2000, am lansat EP-uri, casete si viniluri. Cel mai recent album al nostru “Good Things”, a fost lansat in 2008, este un material foarte bun pe care nu ar trebui sa-l ratati.
2. De curiozitate, ce stie un suedez despre hip-hop-ul romanesc?
Suedezul obisnuit nu stie prea multe despre hip-hop-ul european in general, acest lucru fiind valabil si pentru cel romanesc. La noi zona aceasta este in mare masura dominata de hip-hop-ul din State si de cel suedez.
3. Care sunt primele voastre amintiri legate de hip hop?
Prima mea amintire legata de hip-hop… zilele cand eu si fratele meu obisnuiam sa mergem la magazinul cu muzica din oras si sa stam acolo ore intregi ascultand primul album al celor de la Run DMC. Mai tarziu mi-am cumparat caseta si cam asa m-a prins!
4. Suntem interesati de scena hip-hop din Suedia, puteti sa ne spuneti ceva mai multe despre acest subiect?, ce cluburi aveti pe-acolo, cum se prezinta lucrurile?
Sunt multe cluburi in care se pune hip-hop in ziua de azi, dar de cele mai multe ori se mixeaza cu alte genuri. Totusi, nu prea mai sunt atat de multe evenimente ca pe vremuri, in care sa fie incluse toate elementele. Graffiti-ul a fost dintotdeauna puternic reprezentat, si inca se mentine foarte bine. Cu ceva ani in urma lucrurile se miscau destul de incet, dar cam de trei ani incoace au tot aparut nume noi cu multe difuzari la radio si care reusesc sa faca show-uri mai de amploare. Per total, la acest moment, scena hip-hop-ului suedez este foarte vie!
5. In 2008, Looptroop Rockers a lansat “Good Things”. Cu totii stim ca a fost primit foarte bine, dar cum va simtiti sa fiti in topuri in fata Madonnei?
Doar una dintre zilele obisnuite la birou…Ha ha
6. Daca “Good Things” este practic continuarea albumului ‘Fort Europa”, avand in vedere varietatea stilurilor pe care le-ati abordat si combinat, puteti sa ne dati cateva detalii despre cum va suna urmatorul album si cu cine ati dori sa colaborati?
Sunt si eu curios cum va iesi, referitor la sound si la subiectele abordate. Sunt multe idei care apar in fiecare zi. Ca de obicei, va fi o combinatie intre toate influentele pe care le-am experimentat de-a lungul anilor. Un lucru pe care l-am discutat a fost acela ca ar trebui sa petrecem mult mai mult timp in studio impreuna, sa compunem efectiv piesele acolo, pe loc. Inainte ne intalneam doar cateva zile prin studio, in rest lucram individual. Cu totii avem o lista de artisti cu care ne-ar placea sa colaboram.
7. In noiembrie 2006, comunitatea hip-hop din Romania a avut placerea sa il vada live in Bucuresti pe Promoe. Unii inca spun ca a fost cel mai tare concert hip-hop vazut de ei aici. Ne putem astepta la ceva similar de la Looptroop pe 4 iulie la B’ESTFEST? Ati mai avut concerte si in Rusia, Australia, Japonia, Statele Unite. Cum ati fost primiti acolo si unde ati mai dori sa cantati? Show-ul lui Promoe din Romania este un clasic! Dupa cum ne-a povestit si el, a fost cel mai tare concert al turneului din 2006! Speram sa putem face un show si mai bun pe 4 iulie la B’ESTFEST, speram de asemenea sa oferim ce avem mai bun in noi, sa primim dragoste din partea publicului si sa facem un show si o seara de neuitat! Am avut turnee in toate aceste tari si ne dorim sa revenim, dar as vrea sa ajungem si prin America de Sud sau India, locuri pe unde nu am fost inca.
8. Ce parere aveti despre hip hop in 2009?
Cred ca este interesant cat de mult a crescut si cum domina topurile in ziua de azi. S-a si revarsat inspre atat de multe alte genuri, in ultimul timp e din ce in ce mai vizibil in zona muzicii electronice.
9. Ce ne puteti spune despre viitoarele proiecte solo? V-ati gandit vreodata sa faceti diverse lucruri care ies din sfera muzicii hip hop, ca si business?
Deja am facut diverse lucruri legate de business-ul muzical, si in alte genuri, nu doar hip-hop. Dar in alte domenii de activitate in afara de muzica... ne-ar fi foarte greu datorita programului foarte incarcat. Atunci ar trebui sa ne luam liber de la face muzica pentru a ne concentra pe alte lucruri. Eu am vandut la un moment dat ustensile de bucatarie si prajituri cand am fost mai mic. Asa am facut rost de bani pentru a-mi cumpara primul sampler si pentru a-mi construi studio-ul!
10. Dupa ce veti termina turneul in Europa, probabil abia asteptati sa va intoarceti acasa si sa va relaxati alaturi de familiile voastre. Ce planuri mai aveti pentru vara aceasta?
Sincer, vara asta se anunta destul de linistita pentru Looptroop in materie de concerte. Promoe face un turneu pentru a-si promova cel mai recent album al lui - in suedeza, Supreme este tour manager-ul prietenului nostru Timbuktu in turneul lui, iar eu lucrez in studio.
11. Va place hockey-ul? Daca da, se numara vreunul dintre voi printre fanii Detroit Red Wings?
Am fost un mare fan al hockey-ului cand eram adolescent. Colectionam autografe si mergeam la meciuri, dar mi-am pierdut interesul cu timpul. Cos M.I.C inca este un mare fan, el chiar a practicat multi ani acest sport.
Doresc sa va multumesc pentru timpul acordat raspunzand acestui sir de intrebari si suntem nerabdatori sa luam parte la show-ul vostru din Iulie!

1. LOOPTROOP ROCKERS is well known in Romania, especially by the hip-hop audience. For those who may not know about you yet, please introduce yourselves.
We are three guys from Västerås, Sweden, making music and running our record label David vs Goliath together. Supreme and Promoe rap, sing and write lyrics. Embee makes music and sings sporadically. Cos.M.I.C left the band in 2007 but is still taking care of some Looptroop-business like graphics and the web. We’ve been together since the early 90’s and have done almost 1000 shows altogether. Before our first album in 2000, we released EP’s, tapes and 12”. Our latest album “Good Things” came out in 2008 and is a really good album that you should buy.
2. Out of curiosity, what does a Swede actually know about Romanian hip hop?
The general Swede usually doesn’t know that much about other European hip hop-acts, that goes for Romania as well. It’s mostly dominated by US and Swedish rap.
3. What is your earliest hip hop memory?
It’s from when me and my brother used to go down to the local music library and just sit for hours listening to Run DMC’s first album. Later on, I got the tape and that’s when I got hooked!
4. We are interested in the Swedish hip hop scene, can you tell us a little bit more about it? how many clubs are there, how big the scene is, etc.
There are a lot of clubs playing hip hop nowadays, but usually mixed up with other kinds of music as well. There aren’t as many jams as it used to be, with all elements represented. The graffiti scene has always been massive and is still going strong. A couple of years back things were moving pretty slow, but since three years back there have been lots of new acts coming up and getting good airplay and doing big shows. Overall the scene is very vital at the moment!
5. In 2008, LOOPTROOP ROCKERS released "Good Things". We all know that the feedback was good, but how does it feel to be ahead of Madonna in the charts?
It’s just another day at work… Ha ha.
6. "Good Things" is the continuation of "Fort Europa", considering all the styles and variety that you have combined, can you give us an insight on how the next album will sound like and with whom would you like to collaborate?
I’m really curious myself on how it will turn out, sound-and topic wise. There are different ideas popping up every day. As usual it will be a mixture of all our influences that we’ve experienced during the years. One thing we’ve talked about is to be in the studio together for longer periods of time. To actually write the songs together at the same moment. Before it’s only been a couple of days at a time, then we’ve worked on our own. We all have our favorite collaboration wish lists.
7. In late 2006, the Romanian hip-hop heads had the opportunity to see Promoe live in Bucharest. Some people still say it was the best hip-hop show ever done here. Can we expect something similar from The Rockers, on July 4th, at B’ESTFEST? You did some shows in Russia, Australia, Japan, America also. How about their feedback and where do you like to perform more?
The Promoe-show in Romania is a classic! According to Promoe it was the best gig on his 2006 tour. We hope that we can make an even better show on July 4th. We are really looking forward to spread the love and make it a night to remember. We’ve had great tours and shows in all these countries and wish to go back but also to do shows in South America and India for instance. Places we’ve never been.
8. What do you think of hip hop in 2009?
I think it’s interesting that it has grown so much and that it’s so dominating in the charts nowadays. It has spilled out into so many other genres, especially lately with the electronic type of scene.
9. How about future solo projects? Do you guys ever think of doing stuff outside of hip hop, business wise?
We already do some business, music wise, in other genres than hip hop, but in other fields than music would be hard with our schedule. Then we would have to take the time off from music-creating. I used to sell kitchen utensils and cookies when I was younger though. That’s how I got the money to buy my first sampler and build my studio!
10. After the European Tour is finished, you probably can't wait to arrive home and chill with your families. Is there any chance for other summer plans this year?
This summer is actually pretty chill for Looptroop as live act. Promoe is doing a solo tour with his latest album in Swedish, Supreme is tour manager for our friend Timbuktu on his tour and I’m working in the studio.
11. Do any of you like hockey? If so, anyone a Detroit Red Wings fan?
I used to be a big hockey fan as a youngster. I collected autographs and went to all the games, but I lost interest along the way. Cos M.I.C is a big hockey fan. He even played for a lot of years!

LOOPTROOP ROCKERS – hip-hop european la B'ESTFEST!
Celebra trupa suedeza va urca pe scena festivalului, sambata, 4 iulie, alaturi de Santana - unul dintre cei mai apreciati artisti internationali aflat pentru prima data in concert la Bucuresti. B’ESTFEST se va desfasura vara aceasta pe durata a 5 zile, in perioada 1-5 iulie, in cadrul complexului Romexpo din Bucuresti.
Looptroop a luat fiinta in Vasteras (Suedia), la inceputul anilor ‘90, la initiativa lui Promoe, si a lui Embee, carora mai tarziu li s-au alaturat Cosmic si Supreme. Chiar daca distributia si promovarea la nivel mondial au constituit obstacole pentru casa de productie independenta a trupei, Looptroop a reusit ca la mai bine de 15 ani de la primii pasi in industria muzicala, sa devina unul dintre cele mai apreciate nume ale Hip-hop-ului european.
Looptroop si-a asigurat succesul international bazandu-se pe contactul direct cu fanii in cadrul show-urilor live spectaculoase, albumele trupei fiind promovate masiv prin turnee pe toate continentele! „Modern Day City Symphony” (2000), „The Struggle Continues” (2002), „Fort Europa” (2005) si recentul „Good Things” (2008), alaturi de albumele solo ale lui Promoe – „Government Music” (2001), „Long Distance Runner” (2004) si „White Man’s Burden” (2006) s-au remarcat printr-un sound unic, bucurandu-se de un impact major in comunitatea Hip-hop si reggae din toata lumea.
In 2007, Cosmic si-a anuntat plecarea din Looptroop, cauza fiind turneele obositoare, care il tineau departe de familie. Dupa plecarea lui Cosmic, Promoe, Embee si Supreme au schimbat numele trupei in Looptroop Rockers si au lansat „Good Things”, turneul de promovare al noului album aducand trupa pentru prima data in Romania, la B`ESTFEST, pe 4 iulie, in aceeasi zi cu Santana, The Charlatans si The Ting Tings.
